From a new team of writers comes a hard-edged, hard-boiled commentary on the American political machine. Part tabloid, part "The Manchurian Candidate," The Fix is a totally original biting satire ripped from the headlines of today, yesterday, and most likely tomorrow. A popular presidential candidate is dead, and his wife, who has power on the brain, thrusts her son into the political spotlight. Her maniacal scheming is matched by that of her crippled brother-in-law, who will stop at nothing to see the boy elected. Together, the three of them make up one of the most dysfunctional almost-first families this side of real life Washington politics.

For theatre lovers in our area, we always look forward to what our theatre companies have in store for us in their upcoming seasons. We look to see if there are any trends that stand out to us as audience members. We also see growth in many companies with each new season of shows. Anyone that's been following DC theatre for a while will notice how things have changed in the last twenty or thirty years. One of the biggest examples of this would be the clean up and revitalization of 14th Street, which had direct implications for Studio Theatre and Source.

A new theory about the design of the universe is set out to challenge some widely accepted views in physics. Move aside Einstein, Hawking - there's a new kid in town. Tom James, author of the book 'God Does Not Play Dice' (published by Xlibris), has produced the first ever written account of how the universe works that is complete, unified and that resolves all the key inconsistencies that show up in other theories. James points out the two fundamental mistakes that physicists before him have made: 'the assumption that our universe was a non-matter driven creation; and that mass bend space.'
As America celebrates its 240th Birthday today, let's talk about what is probably one of the greatest musicals ever written, and it only came about 46 years before Hamilton. 1776 dramatizes the story of how John Adams was able to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence as well as signing the Declaration of Independence. While the musical does dramatize the most important event in American history, the story behind the musical is probably just as interesting.
