Sergio Trujillo To Make Directorial Debut With Wildhorn, Cruz And Murphy's Upcoming Musical, HAVANA by BWW News Desk - Jul 29, 2009Sergio Trujillo, the acclaimed choreographer of Jersey Boys, Next to Normal and the forthcoming musicals The Addams Family and Memphis, will make his directorial debut with Havana, a new musical (not based on the film of the same name) with a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning Cuban author Nilo Cruz, music by internationally-renowned Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Jack Murphy. Produced by Kathleen Raitt, William Franzblau/Jay Harris, Ben Sprecher/Louise Forlenza and Steven E. Wildhorn's WONDERLAND Announces New Members Of Creative Team For Tampa Premiereby BWW - Jul 27, 2009The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center today announces several additions to the creative team for Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure. According to producer Judith Lisi, president and CEO of TBPAC, Marguerite Derricks will choreograph the production and Ron Melrose will serve as music supervisor and provide vocal and dance arrangements as well as incidental music. Susan Hilferty, Neil Patel and Paul Gallo will design the costumes, sets and lights respectively, while Jon Weston will design the sound and Sven Ortel will design video and projections. (more...)

Caldwell Theatre Company Presents 'The Whipping Man'by Beau Higgins - Aug 5, 2009Set against the backdrop of the last day of The Civil War, a badly wounded Jewish confederate soldier returns to his Richmond estate and begs his now freed slaves to nurse him. In keeping with traditions of that time, the slaves are also Jewish, bringing into question conflicts of societal and religious acceptance. During the course of the play, secrets are revealed which will irrevocably alter all their lives. The final scene, set to the backdrop of the Passover Seder, will likely resonate with audiences long after the final bow.

Slated to have its world premiere in Tampa on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 in TBPAC's Ferguson Hall, with Gregory Boyd, artistic director of Houston's Alley Theatre, directing. The music for Wonderland is from composer Frank Wildhorn (The Civil War and Jekyll & Hyde) with lyrics by Jack Murphy (The Civil War) and a book by Murphy and Boyd. Wonderland is the first initiative of the Broadway Genesis Project at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
