Pivot Multi-Arts Festival is Presented, 6/6 - 6/22

Pivot Arts launches a new celebration of innovative theater, music and dance in unique and often historic spaces from June 6 – 22, 2013 throughout Chicago's Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods. The inaugural PIVOT MULTI-ARTS FESTIVAL answers the City's call for a reinvigorated Uptown Entertainment District by uniting artists, businesses and local organizations around multidisciplinary “pop-up” performances occurring in a former Vaudeville Theater, an at-one-time Charlie Chaplin film studio and other historic spaces throughout these communities. Actor/sword fighters Jacqueline Ann Holloway and Robert Westley will be joining NYCB dancers Jared Angle and Megan LeCrone and members of the Sebastians Chamber Orchestra for On Point: From Duel to Pas de Deux, to be presented by Salon/Sanctuary Concerts. An exploration of the shared origins of sword fighting and ballet, On Point will be presented on Monday June 3rd at The Liederkranz Club at 7:00PM. 2013-14 WNBA Regular Season Tips Off Next Monday on ESPN2

ESPN2 and ABC will combine to present 14 regular-season WNBA games, including the addition of a new opening-weekend ESPN2 Memorial Day doubleheader. . Ghostlight Records will release the Original Cast Recording of the acclaimed epic musical GIANTonline and in stores on May 21, 2013. Performance rights for GIANT will be licensed through R&H Theatricals, a division of Rodgers & Hammerstein, an Imagem Company. Alexander Fiterstein Featured on New Sean Hickey Album

Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein is a featured soloist on the new album “Sean Hickey: Concertos,” scheduled for release on the Delos Music label on May 28, 2013. The album includes two concertos by American composer Mr. Hickey: Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, which was commissioned by cellist Dmitry Kouzov and composed in 2008, andConcerto for Clarinet and Orchestra composed in 2006. Both pieces were recorded in St. Petersburg, Russia with conductor Vladimir Lande and the St. Petersburg State Symphony and the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra. This is the first all-orchestral recording of the works of Mr. Hickey. (more...)

Kids aged 7 to 14 will receive a free ticket with the purchase of each adult ticket for weekday performances of the circus musical BARNUM at Mercury Theater Chicago, 3745 N. Throughout the toe-tapping musical, the glitz and grandeur of the circus is brought to life on Mercury Theater Chicago's intimate stage. 14 actors entertain the audience with 24 rapid-fire costume changes and perform over 14 breathtaking head-over-heels acrobatic tricks featuring 18 juggling balls, 12 juggling scarves, 9 juggling balls, 2 Spanish webs and 1 circus lyra. 6 musicians create the rousing sound of the Big Top with 12 instruments, and 2 stilt walkers tower over the audience. 100 bricks are used to construct the historic American Museum. 3 sassy wooden poodles parade across the stage, along with 1 magnificent tiger and 1 larger-than-life elephant puppet.
