BYE BYE BIRDIE Comes to Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, 10/5

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres brings its audiences a fresh rendition of a musical classic never before seen on the Main Stage with Bye Bye Birdie. This all-American musical will light up the stage with preview performances from October 5 through 18. Official grand opening festivities take place on October 19. East Boston's Johanna Perri will appear in the leading role of "Velma Kelly" in The Company Theatre's production of Chicago, from April 5 through 28, at The Company Theatre Centre for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell, MA. Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has been nominated for 10 Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards in the Large Theater category for shows from the company's 2012 season. "Bye Bye Birdie" received eight nominations, including Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Anita Gillette (Chapter Two, Moonstruck, 30 Rock). "A Chorus Line" and "My Fair Lady" each earned one nomination. Winners will be announced on April 29 at the Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama, 539 Tremont Street, Boston. Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad to Lead David Leveaux-Helmed ROMEO AND JULIET on Broadway; Opens September 19 at Richard Rodgers Theatre

According to the New York Times, Shakespeare's classic romatic tradgedy Romeo and Juliet is coming back to Broadway this summer. Helmed by David Leveaux, the production will star Tony nominee Condola Rashad and Orlando Bloom- making his Broadway debut in the role. Joining them in the play, which is set to open on September 19 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, will be Jayne Houdyshell as the Nurse and Joe Morton as Lord Capulet. (more...)
