BWW Interviews: Jillian Mueller of FLASHDANCE National Tour Answers Our Silly Query

After spending time on Broadway and on tour, triple-threat actress Jillian Mueller can now be seen dancing up a (ha ha) storm in the National Tour production of FLASHDANCE, in which she plays leading lady Alex Owens---yes, the sexy steel mill worker who moonlights as a maniac, maniac, on the floor. The stage incarnation of the hit movie of the same name continues performances through May 19 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Playwrights Theatre Announces the Winners of the 30th Annual New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest

Playwrights Theatre has announced the winners of the 30th Annual New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest. From the 328 plays submitted by young writers throughout the state, a panel of theatre professionals has selected four High School plays, three Junior High School plays and three Elementary Schools plays. In each category, selection was blind; plays were selected without knowledge of playwrights' schools, grade or background. The 30th Annual New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest Festival will be held on May 20 and May 21, 2013 as part of a partnership between Playwrights Theatre and Premiere Stages at Kean University. Select plays from this festival will be reprised at Playwrights Theatre's nationally-recognized Forum Reading Series in December 2013. This reading series brings together writers from all over the United States. (more...)

Orpheum Theatre Announces 2013 High School Musical Theatre Award Nominees

The Orpheum Theatre has announced the nominees for the 2013 High School Musical Theatre Awards. Modeled after the Tony Awards, The Orpheum's High School Musical Theatre Awards recognizes achievements in all areas of high school musical theatre.
