Scarlett Johansson to Receive 2016 Renaissance Award From Gene Siskel Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center (GSFC) of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will celebrate one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses when it pays tribute to Tony and BAFTA winner and four-time Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson, Saturday, June 11, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago (160 E. Pearson St.). 'Celebrate Scarlett' will pay tribute to Johansson's accomplishments as an actor as well as give attendees the opportunity to hear an intimate conversation providing insights into her creative process and influences, favorite roles, upcoming projects and more. A retrospective of film clips from some of her most memorable performances will accompany the conversation highlighting her illustrious career. The evening will culminate with the presentation of the Gene Siskel Film Center Renaissance Award to Johansson by SAIC President Dr. Walter E. Massey and GSFC Advisory Board Chair Ellen Sandor.

The Kennedy Center today announced a robust schedule of 2015-2016 performances as part of Comedy at the Kennedy Center, the largest since the new series was established in the 2014-2015 season. Capital One is the presenting sponsor. Comedy at the Kennedy Center will include three signature events in the Concert Hall, featuring nationally renowned comedic acts, and the Center's first District of Comedy Festival from June 22-25, showcasing an array of celebrated comedians who will be performing on stages across the building. The District of Comedy Festival will also launch a newly-engaged collaboration with Chicago's legendary comedy theater, The Second City, featuring a Kennedy Center commission that focuses on the history of the United States, which will run for six weeks in the Theater Lab. Tickets for these events go on sale to members on Monday, November 23, 2015 and to the general public on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 (unless otherwise noted).

Organizers of the Hollywood Fringe Festival (www.hollywoodfringe.org) have announced a new set of free workshops this fall focusing on creative development, the writing process and mentorship in the arts. A small panel of veteran Fringe writers will share their experiences and answer questions November 16th & 17th at The Dragonfly (6510 Santa Monica Blvd.) at 7:00pm on both days. The November 16th session will focus on solo writing practices; the November 17th session is intended for collaborative writers and devisers.
