Way Off Broadway's Actors' Studio was created in the fall of 2003 as an extension of the theaters wildly popular Children's Theatre Summer Camp program. While the camps would continue to having acting and musical sessions during the summer, the Actors' Studio would be able to offer classes during the spring and fall.

Auditions began this weekend for the next star of the West End, as Andrew Lloyd Webber launched his search for the next Dorothy in his upcoming production of the Wizard of Oz. The lucky leading lady will be selected over the course of a several week 'audition' process on the BBC1 reality television show Over the Rainbow. Webber's official website reveals that hundreds of potential candidates headed to the Glasgow town of Hampden to be among the first to audition.

A report out in the Toronto Star today suggests that Garth Drabinsky, convicted and sentenced to 7 years in prison for fraud, is back in action...at least for now. According to the report, Drabinsky has three new large-scale productions in the works for the 2010-2011 season: Christopher Plummer in Barrymore; Colm Wilkinson in Finian's Rainbow; and an all-black revival of Kiss of a Spider Woman.
