TCG Announces 2009 Conference ROOTS. RENAISSANCE. REVOLUTION

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional, not-for-profit theatre announces its 2009 conference: Roots. Renaissance. Revolution. From June 4-6, 2009, the theatre community will come together in Baltimore to investigate how generational perspectives affect the entire field, including the choice of plays produced, the atmosphere created in workplaces, the appeal of various leadership styles, and the processes used to identify, attract and retain audiences.

PianoFight Presents 'FORKING,' Premieres 1/8, Runs Thru 1/31

SF-based production company PianoFight presents an original comedy, FORKING! (full title is Fork Off Down Your Own Forking Adventure Which You've Forked: FORKING!), a fully scripted play in which the audience votes on how the plot will proceed. The play will premiere January 8, 2009, and will run Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, from January 8 to 31, in Studio 250 at Off-Market, 965 Mission St between 5th and 6th. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 online at www.pianofight.com.

Motion Picture Academy to Honor Jerry Lewis with Humanitarian Award

Million Dollar Quartet, the new musical inspired by the famed 1956 recording session that brought together legendary rock 'n' roll icons Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley, will move to the Apollo Theater at 2540 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, immediately following the conclusion of its limited engagement at the Goodman's Owen Theatre. Performances in the Owen continue through October 26, 2008; preview performances at the Apollo Theater begin Friday, October 31, 2008. The official Apollo opening is Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets for the Apollo run are currently on sale through January 4, 2009.

Lincoln Ave. Chicago), immediately following the conclusion of its limited engagement at the Goodman's Owen Theatre. Performances in the Owen continue through Oct. 26. Preview performances at the Apollo Theater begin Friday, Oct. 31, with the official opening scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 PM. Emmy winner Rosie O'Donnell has signed on to star in and executive produce the poignant new Lifetime Original Movie, 'America,' premiering in February 2009. Based on E.R. Frank's book of the same name, the film follows the story of a boy named America, an emotionally vacant sixteen-year-old, who spent his entire life shuffled through the foster care system. O'Donnell stars as a therapist who gives America the support he needs to deal with his troubled past and helps him find the courage to live.
