Final Selections Announced For TRU Voices New Play Reading Series 6/1,15, 22

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the winning selections of the 2009 TRU Voices New Plays Reading Series. In a series that is unique because it develops new producers as well as new plays, three works were chosen from submissions by emerging or established producers, as well as from writers who hoped to be matched with a producer. Fulfilling TRU's mission of nurturing the producer-writer relationship, each of the plays this year is either produced by, or with the assistance of, a member of the TRU Producer Mentorship program. Ogunquit Holds Auditions For A CHORUS LINE 5/20-6/13

The Ogunquit Playhouse is holding auditions for its non-Equity and Actors' Equity Association summer productions. The 2009 season auditions are for A Chorus Line - (May 20-June 13 rehearsals begin May 12), Shout! The Mod Musical (June 17- July 11 rehearsals begin June 2), Guys and Dolls (July 15- Aug 8 rehearsals begin June 30), Singin' in the Rain (Aug 12- Sept 12 rehearsals begin July 28) and All Shook Up (Sept 16- Oct 11 rehearsals begin Sept. 1). The Playhouse is also holding auditions for its non-equity production of Disney's High School Musical (Show runs three weekends June 27 & 28, July 25 & 26, Aug 29 & 30, rehearsals begin May 26). All characters in this show are good singers and dancers. (more...)

Vanessa Williams And Amas Musical Theatre Present Benefit Event 8/10 At TAJ Lounge

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Producing Artistic Director), will launch the Maria Torres Emerging Artist Project with a special Benefit Event on August 10 with stage and screen star Vanessa Williams as Honorary Chair. The event is directed by Amas Artist-in-Residence Maria Torres and will showcase company professionals from the upcoming Magic of Salsa Kingdom, an original dance theatre piece by Torres premiering in September at the Salsa Kingdom Festival in Southport, England. Also performing Torres's choreography will be some of her young students. The evening features music by Willie Torres NYC Salsa Project, and will take place at Taj Lounge, 48 West 21st Street, at 7pm. (more...)
