Akers, Balgord, McDermott Lead Cast Of SHIP OF FOOLS Presented 5/12 In NYC

Casting has been announced for a 'first look' at select scenes and songs from the new musical adaptation of Katherine Anne Porter's classic novel, Ship of Fools, which will be presented May 12th to industry at a private residence in Manhattan. Pam Tate pens the book and score, and Tate and Erv Raible share duty on the lyrics. Hubert 'Tex' Arnold is the musical director and arranger. David Glenn Armstrong will direct the presentation. Opening Night is set for April 16th. Directed by Peter Meineck, Iliad: Book One will have original music by Anthony Cochrane and movement by Desiree Sanchez. A Literary Christmas Miscellany at The New York Public Library Runs Through Jan. 4

Just in time for the holiday season, The New York Public Library will display Charles Dickens personal prompt copy of his classic tale A Christmas Carol from December 5, 2008 through January 4, 2009 in the free display A Literary Christmas Miscellany which includes a selection of holiday material from the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature. The display is on view in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library's Rose Main Reading Room located at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. (more...)
