Maestro Joseph Rescigno has served since 1981 as Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, WI where he conducts some of the company's most challenging and exciting repertory. He has conducted symphonies, concertos, operas, and oratorios for more than 50 companies on four continents.As a frequent guest conductor, Joseph Rescigno has conducted the New York City Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington National Opera, Hungarian State Opera, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Seattle Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Vancouver Opera, Teatro Bellini, l'Opéra de Marseille, and l'Opéra de Montreal among others. The symphony orchestras he has conducted include the Montreal Symphony and the Milwaukee Symphony orchestras, both of which he has conducted in their regular subscription series as well as in opera productions.As Artistic Director of l'Orchestre Métropolitain of Montreal, Maestro Rescigno made four recordings in four years: works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Mendelssohn, and operatic and concert arias by Mozart featuring Lyne Fortin. Long before New York had a fringe festival, New York had the Ensemble Studio Theatre's OCTOBERFEST, a marathon of new, developing plays crammed together on two floors of the theatre company's home at 549 West 52nd Street. The first OCTOBERFEST was in 1981.
LIVE! with Regis and Kelly co-host Regis Philbin took Pee-wee Herman on a tour of his new Times Square neighborhood for a taped piece to air on LIVE on Tuesday, October 19 . They hit a number of Times Square hot spots, including the TKTS location, the backstage door of the Ed Sullivan Theatre, the M&M Store and the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, the home of Pee-wee's upcoming Broadway show.
