Deep Dish Theater Reschedules Reception w/ Eric Overmyer, 9/18

Due to a family emergency, acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and producer Eric Overmyer will postpone his visit to the Deep Dish Theater, originally scheduled for September 11, until the following Saturday, September 18. A reception in his honor will begin at 6:30 PM in the theater's lobby. Overmyer is visiting Chapel Hill in conjunction with the theater's production of his 1990 play 'Mi Vida Loca,' which is the opening production of the theater's 10th Anniversary Season. (more...)

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), will end its production of Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' on May 2nd. Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.' Two-time Tony Award winners NATHAN LANE (The Producers, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) and BEBE NEUWIRTH (Chicago, Sweet Charity) will star as Gomez and Morticia in THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams. Produced by Stuart Oken, Roy Furman, Michael Leavitt and Five Cent Productions, by special arrangement with Elephant Eye Theatrical, THE ADDAMS FAMILY will open on Broadway Thursday, April 8, 2010 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will hold its Annual Chairman's Awards Gala and benefit on Monday, April 19 at the St. Regis New York hotel. This year, NCTF Chairman James S. Turley, Chairman & CEO of Ernst & Young, will honor Nathan Lane (returning to Broadway this season in The Addams Family), set designer Eugene Lee (Wicked) and Wells Fargo & Company. Accepting the award on behalf of Wells Fargo will be Joe Kirk, Regional President for New York and Connecticut. All net proceeds of the event will be distributed as the NCTF/WELLS FARGO FUND FOR NEW AMERICAN THEATRE. (more...)

'Broadway Talks' at 92Y Welcomes Liev Schreiber, 3/1

92nd Street Y and Jujamcyn Theaters will present a series of conversations entitled 'Broadway Talks,' featuring some of today's biggest Broadway stars, throughout the spring. The talks will be held as one-on-one conversations with Jujamcyn President, Jordan Roth, and will take place on four separate occasions from March to May.
