The New Group Opens Season With THE GOOD MOTHER, 10/29

The New Group will present the first production in its 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of The Good Mother, a new play by Francine Volpe. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso, Eric Nelsen and Bill Sage. Previews begin October 29 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm. Cynthia Nixon to Play Emily Dickinson in A QUIET PASSION Film

According to the Hollywood Reporter, stage and screen star Cynthia Nixon has signed on to play Emily Dickinson in an upcoming biopic helmed by Terrence Davies. Davies told THR: 'I wrote the screenplay with Cynthia in mind. It was the kind of dream casting you hope for. I never, for a moment, imagined my wishes would materialize. Blythe Danner, Annie Potts and More Set for STEEL MAGNOLIAS NYC Reading, 12/3

Producer David Youse and Four Things Productions in association with L.A. Works has just announced a celebrity staged reading in celebration of The 25th Anniversary of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias to take place on Monday, 3 December 2012 at 7pm to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This special one night only event will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theater located at 121 Christopher Street in New York City, where the original production performed. Directed by Judith Ivey and starring Blythe Danner, Annie Potts as M'Lynn, the original Truvy, Margo Martindale as Ouiser, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Shelby and Sarah Stiles as Annelle. Additional cast announced soon! Music for this production has been generously donated by Bonnie Raitt and Pat Boone. New City Stage Company has announced its 2012-13 season. New City Stage will be in residence again at the Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom Street in center city Philadelphia. Brooks Ashmanskas, Vincent D'Onofrio and Zoe Kazan join Ethan Hawke in New Group's CLIVE

The New Group has announced that Brooks Ashmanskas, Vincent D'Onofrio and Zoe Kazan have joined the cast of Clive, up next in the company's 2012-2013 season. Written by Jonathan Marc Sherman and directed by and featuring Ethan Hawke in the title role, Clive begins a limited Off-Broadway engagement on January 17, 2013.
