Fiona Shaw, Gary Cole Join 4th Season of TRUE BLOODby BWW News Desk - Mar 7, 2011According to Ew.com, Fiona Shaw and Gary Cole are set to join the cast of Alan Ball's True Blood for its fourth season. Th stage star will play Marnie, 'a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch.' Hartford Stage Hosting Two Special Exhibits During DIVINE RIVALRY, 3/2-3/20by BWW
News Desk - Mar 2, 2011Hartford Stage will celebrate the artistic partnership among director Michael Wilson, set designer Jeff Cowie, and sound designer John Gromada in Working with Michael, a multi-media exhibit in 'room,' Hartford Stage's new function space. At the same time, the theatre will unveil Part II of Capturing the Moment, a season-long retrospective of the work of company photographer T. Charles Ericson, commemorating his 25 years with Hartford Stage. The Ericson installation will be in the theatre's upper lobby. The exhibits coincide with the run of Divine Rivalry, a world premiere play by noted political journalist Michael Kramer, which is the last MainStage production Wilson will be directing as Hartford Stage Artistic Director. Cowie designed the sets for the production, and Gromada the sound and original music. Official opening of both exhibits is Wednesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m., directly before the 7:30 performance of Divine Rivalry. (more...)

Brava Theatre Presents THE OLDEST PROFESSION, 3/12by BWW News Desk - Mar 12, 2011To create discourse about sex and age, Brava Theater presents The Oldest Profession, written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive, Baltimore Waltz). Directed by Brava Company Member Evren Odcikin and musical arrangements by Angela Dwyer, this production recognizes the awareness of women playwrights and the men that support them. Vogel's commentary on aging and sex will come to life during Women's History Month and in correlation with Support Women Arts Now (SWAN) DAY on March 26th. The Oldest Profession runs March 12th through April 9th (press opening, Monday, March 14th) at Brava Theater in San Francisco's historic Mission District (2781 24th Street at York).
