Falls sets his production of Shakespeare's dark comedy against the backdrop of New York City circa 1970s-an era in which economic challenges, urban flight and the sexual revolution transformed one of the greatest cities in the world into one of the most troubled. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for Short Shakespeare! Romeo and Juliet, a 75-minute abridged production of Shakespeare's tragedy of true love found-and tragically lost, adapted and staged by Jeff Award-winning director and Chicagoan of the Year in Theater Rachel Rockwell. Providing a quality, family-friendly introduction to Shakespeare on Saturday mornings from February 23 to March 23, 2013, the cast of Rockwell's production includes Chicago actors Christopher Allen and Laura Rook, who make their CST debuts in the title roles. Building on the achievements of 2012, Shakespeare's Globe opens public booking for the 2013 theatre season on Monday 11 February. 'Season of Plenty' follows a watershed year at the Globe and offers theatre's brightest talents in a rich season of fifteen plays, including three world premieres, an expansion of the Globe's award-winning touring, and the return of three Globe to Globe productions from last year's once-in-a-lifetime festival.
