It's the time of year to reflect on the past and enjoy familiar stories that warm our hearts. In otherwords, 'tis the season for ANNIE. That spunky waif has been part of our American culture for more than 130 years. She was first penned into existence by poet James Whitcomb Riley in 1885. His poem, 'Little Orphant Annie',was inspired by Mary Alice 'Allie' Smith, an orphaned child who came to live in the Riley home.

The Public Theater announced today that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, has joined the company of TROILUS AND CRESSIDA as Achilles. He is replacing David Harbour who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The new press opening will now be Tuesday, August 9.

THE RED BARN, a new play by David Hare, based on the novel, La Main, by Georges Simenon opens in the Lyttelton Theatre on 6 October (press night 17 October).

?At the 20th annual Pell Awards, Trinity Repertory Company will honor local artists Len Cabral and Charlene Carpenzano with Rhode Island Pell Awards for Excellence in the Arts alongside previously announced honorees The Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis, Laurie Eustis and Elizabeth Chace. The Falcon Theatre welcomes Kevin Blake now performing the role of 'F. Scott Fitzgerald' alongside Ty Mayberry as 'Ernest Hemingway' and Jackie Seiden as 'Eve Montaigne' in SCOTT AND HEM, written by Mark St. Germain and directed by Dimitri Toscas now through November 15.

Actress and singer Rumer Willis, daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is currently making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the long running musical CHICAGO.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 Citizens Bank Children's Theater Series.  Now in its 46th season, the Theater Series will present award-winning, professional theater companies featuring live performances for young audiences ages 3 and up.   Performances based on prize-winning and popular children's books adapted for the stage by Theatreworks USA (USA), Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia (Canada), Tall Stories (UK), Windmill Theatre (Australia) and Adventure Theatre MTC (USA) can be seen at various locations throughout the Pittsburgh area.    The 2015-2016 Season has expanded from five to six shows, with the final show of the season a part of the EQT Children's Theater Festival, May 12-15, 2016.
