Tony Winner Adriane Lenox Leads MTC's Regrets this Spring; Carolyn Cantor Helms

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox will return to MTC this spring in REGRETS, the new play by Matt Charman. This world premiere production will be directed by Carolyn Cantor (After The Revolution, for which she recently received the Callaway award, and Pumpgirl). REGRETS will now begin previews Thursday, March 8, 2012 and open Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I. (more...)

As part of its 30th Anniversary Season celebration, the Huntington Theatre Company brings the cast of August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom to Roxbury's Hibernian Hall to perform a reading of the play on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 7pm. The reading is free and open to the public, but an RSVP at huntingtontheatre.org/raineyreading is encouraged, as seating is limited. Liesl Tommy, director of the Huntington's acclaimed 2011 production of Ruined, helms the production. The ensemble features "ER" cast member Yvette Freeman as the legendary blues singer Ma Rainey and local favorite Jason Bowen (Ruined, A Civil War Christmas at the Huntington) as Levee. (more...)

The Public Theater Shifts THE TOTAL BENT Performances to Begin 2/24

The Public Theater announced new February dates today for THE TOTAL BENT by Stew and Heidi Rodewald and directed by Joanna Settle. The shift in dates for this Public Lab production is due to an unforeseen construction-related delay that prevented the show from getting into the theater on the scheduled start date. The Public Theater's building renovation has been underway since fall 2008 and is expected to be completed on time this summer. (more...)
