Dole Food Company and Giant Food Stores Donate Salad Bars to Parkland School District

Today, Dole Food Company (NYSE:DOLE) and Giant Food Stores were joined by Congressman Charlie Dent and State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie to celebrate the donation of two salad bars to schools in the Parkland School District at the Fogelsville Elementary School. The salad bars were donated as a part of the First Lady's Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative, which has donated more than 2,491 salad bars serving more than 1,245,500 children across the country. President Obama to Honor BILLY ELLIOT's Alex Ko at White House

Alex Ko, who played the title role in the Tony-winning production of Billy Elliot the Musical and recently released his memoir Alex Ko: From Iowa to Broadway, My Billy Elliot Story, will be part of the White House series of arts workshops for local middle and high school youth. Alex will be speaking to the students about the road traveled to the Great White Way, his experience performing in a Broadway show, and writing his recently released memoir through HarperCollins. BWW Reviews: Ghostlight's GIANT (Original Cast Recording) is Majestic, Opulent, and Mesmerizing

Edna Ferber has been proven to be plumb inspiration for grandiose and sweeping musicals. 1927's SHOW BOAT was based on her 1926 novel Showboat. Recently, her novel Giant was musicalized by Michael John LaChiusa (SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, First Lady SUITE, THE WILD PARTY). The show features a book by Sybille Pearson, Music and Lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and luxuriant orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin with additional orchestrations by Larry Hochman. GIANT had its New York City premiere in a production that was co-produced by The Public Theater and Dallas Theater Center last fall. The acclaimed musical's rousing and extravagantly epic score has been resplendently captured by Ghostlight Records on their 2-disc GIANT (Original Cast Recording) album. (more...)


Children's Obesity Fund Announces KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization

The Children's Obesity Fund and co-founders Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi recently lent their support to the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization for the purpose of creating a fitness program at Precious Lamb Preschool in Southern California. The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization is the nonprofit arm of KID-FIT.com and provides preschools around the world with the tools for creating child-appropriate fitness and nutrition programs. Jackie Hoffman & John Epperson Set to Lead ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Benefit for Transport Group, 6/17

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that it will present a one-night-only, all-star concert of the acclaimed 1959 classic Broadway musical Once Upon A Mattress on Monday, June 17 at 7pm at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42 Street. Jackie Hoffman will star as Princess Winnifred with John 'Lypsinka' Epperson as The Queen Aggravain, and the evening will be directed by five-time Drama Desk nominee, Jack Cummings III. Composer Mary Rodgers will take part in a post-show discussion with the audience. Further casting will be announced at a later date. The benefit concert for Transport Group is co-produced by John Epperson. (more...)

On Friday, May 31 at Carnegie Hall, actress and arts advocate Sarah Jessica Parker and fashion designer Zac Posen will share the spotlight with the talented teens who received national honors in the 90 th annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. More than 800 teens from 47 states, along with their families and teachers, are expected to attend the celebration. There, 15 graduating seniors will receive Portfolio Gold Medals, the Awards' highest honor, which includes a $10,000 scholarship. HERE LIES LOVE Extends at the Public Through July 28

Due to overwhelming demand, The Public Theater announced a final four-week extension for the critically acclaimed world premiere musical Here Lies Love, with concept and lyrics by David Byrne, music by David Byrneand Fatboy Slim, additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo, and choreography by Annie-B Parson. GIANT to be Licensed Through R&H Theatricals
