Macy Medford and Arden Guice may only be college students, but their performances as Violet and Daisy Hilton, the heroines of Side Show - the iconic musical by Bill Russell, Henry Krieger and Bill Condon that debuted on Broadway some 20 years ago - in Belmont University Musical Theatre's production that runs for just one weekend, are nothing less than a professional triumph for each young woman. Thoroughly committed and startlingly focused, Medford and Guice perform an oftentimes tricky, always challenging, task in order that the two young women effectively become their characters, ensuring the musical packs an emotional wallop delivered straight to the collective heart of its audience, while showcasing the evolution of a musical theatre program at the Nashville university, which over the years has gained a national reputation as the training ground of the next generations of Broadway stars yet to be.

Today, Hillbarn Theatre's Executive Artistic Director Dan Demers announced REACH FOR THE STARS 2018-Hillbarn's largest annual fundraising gala-taking place at the Hillsborough Racquet Club (252 El Cerrito Avenue) today, November 3, 2018. Proceeds from the gala will support Hillbarn Theatre's Mainstage and Conservatory programs, as well as its community arts initiatives throughout the Bay Area. Individual tickets are $250 and available now at hillbarntheatre.org/reach-for-the-stars/.

Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 77th season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. The upcoming season will be framed by two major musical events, the New York premiere of a multi-media version of Handel's oratorioIsrael in Egypt performed at Carnegie Hall, and a new adaptation of the Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin-Moss Hart avant-garde musical, Lady in the Dark, starring Victoria Clark at New York City Center. Lady in the Dark has not been seen in New York since it was presented at New York City Center in 1994 as part of the inaugural Encores! season.
The Morris Museum will launch its new Inside Cinema Film Series on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:00AM in the Bickford Theatre. During this season, this film series will focus on film Noir, and will be hosted monthly by David Landau, a professor of film at Fairleigh Dickinson University. For each screening there will be a discussion with David before the film to provide further insights.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) is pleased to announce the 2018 MAC Award nominees. The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. The MAC Board of Directors selected the nominees for Show of the Year. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories. The names of the songwriters in the Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories are being withheld during the voting period, but will be announced publicly as soon as the voting period concludes.
The Astana Ballet Theater Will Present The 'Kazakhstan Astana Ballet Gala' At Lincoln Center. The performance, presenting choreographic works of varying genres, is part of the 'Modern Kazakhstan Culture in the Global World,' a project of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture and Sport. The performance will be on January 17, 7 pm, at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, 1941 Broadway, NYC. Admission is free. Tickets will be distributed, first come first served, on January 17 at 6 pm.
