KNUFFLE BUNNY, TARZAN and More Set for The Rose Theater's 2013-14 Season

The Rose Theater, one of the country's largest theaters specializing in professional productions for young audiences, will present nine shows for the 2013-14 season. Included are two world premieres, Leo Lionni's Frederick, a musical based on the popular 1968 children's book, and The Grocer's Goblin & The Little Mermaid adapted from two Hans Christen Andersen tales by Rose Playwright-in-Residence Brian Guehring and Rose Director of Youth Productions Stephanie Jacobson. Theatre Aspen Launches New Apprentice Program

A new Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program was announced today. The award-winning Equity theatre will invite ten aspiring theatre professionals to Aspen for an entire summer, to work alongside professionals in all aspects of theatre production. Theatre Aspen supporters and Aspen residents Jessica and John Fullerton will underwrite the program for its first three years. In January, the organization was named "Non Profit of the Year" in the region with hundreds of local not-for-profits. (more...)


Martha Wash, Madeleine Peyroux and More Set for THE MEETING*'s NIGHT OF A THOUSAND JUDYS

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre will present the third annual "Night of A Thousand Judys" on Monday, June 17. The Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center will take place at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center (129 West 67th Street in New York). "Night of A Thousand Judys" will honor the legendary singer and actress Judy Garland with special skits, tributes and songs from her storied career. There will be a pre-show VIP reception at 6:30 PM and the show at 8:00 PM. The show is written and hosted by Justin Sayre and Lance Horne serves as Music Director. The show will feature performances by Martha Wash ("It's Raining Men"), Madeleine Peyroux (platinum-selling vocalist), Christiane Noll (Tony Award nominee for Ragtime), Karen Mason (Wonderland, Hairspray), Molly Pope (Village Voice "Best of NYC 2011") and Danielle Grabianowski (Sleep No More) in addition to other names to be announced. Dance Currents Inc. Presents CHARGE THE AIR, 5/12

Dance Currents Inc. is presenting "Charge the Air" on Sunday, May 12, 2pm at Green Street Studios. This concert is the third in our series of Sunday afternoon performances, and will feature live music by Yuji Kano, flutist, Mason Morton, harp, Johanan Chendler, violin and Victoria Tzotzkova, piano as well as two new dances, one by emerging choreographer Ali Smith, and one by Kathy Hassinger. Dance Currents dancers Jennifer Burpee, Whitney Cover, Sarah Josselyn, Lauren Previte, Kai Sherman and Ali Smith will be performing as well as dancers from Across the Ages Dance: Eleanor Duckworth, Eliza Mallouk, Marcie Mitler, Jackie Flynn, Sara Lapery, and Alison Ryan.
