Goodman Theatre Announces Cast For A TRUE HISTORY OF THE JOHNSTOWN FLOOD

Rehearsals begin this week for Goodman Theatre's world premiere of A True History of the Johnstown Flood by Rebecca Gilman, whose work was most recently included in Time magazine's 'Best Theatre Productions of the Decade.' Commissioned by the Goodman and directed by Robert Falls, A True History of the Johnstown Flood runs March 13 - April 18, 2010 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre. Tickets start at $25 and go on sale this Friday, February 5 at GoodmanTheatre.org.

Olga Borodina will sing Amneris in this evening's performance of Aida at the Metropolitan Opera, replacing Dolora Zajick, who is ill. Zajick is still scheduled for performances on October 24, 29, November 2 and 6. The October 24 matinee of Aida will be shown Live in HD in movie theaters internationally.

Artistic Director Robert Falls has canceled the previously scheduled Joan D'Arc, directed by Aida Karic, and in its place selected Stoop Stories, an explosive solo piece by Dael Orlandersmith. A Chicago premiere, Stoop Stories will run September 11 - October 11 in the Goodman's 400-seat flexible Owen Bruner Theatre.

Stephanie Blythe and François Racine Named Seattle Opera Artists of the Year

On Tuesday, July 14, during Seattle Opera's Annual Meeting at McCaw Hall, General Director Speight Jenkins announced that the company's 2008/09 Artists of the Year awards went to mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe for performing the role of Amneris in Verdi's Aida in August 2008, and to François Racine for his stage direction of Seattle Opera's double bill of Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle with Schoenberg's Erwartung in February and March, 2009.
