Dreamworks to Memorialize Gershwin in Feinstein-Produced Biopic

Variety reports that DreamWorks will be memorializing composer George Gershwin in a new biopic to be penned by Memoirs of a Geisha writer and Creditor's director Doug Wright, and produced by Marc Platt ('Wanted') and famed singer and pianist Michael Feinstein. (more...)

Merwin Goldsmith Joins Broderick and Moreno in THE STARRY MESSENGER; Previews Now Begin 10/26

The New Group's production of The Starry Messenger has welcomed new cast member Merwin Goldsmith, who has replaced Jonathan Hadary. NY Philharmonic's Star Studded SONDHEIM: THE BIRTHDAY CONCERT to Feature LuPone, Peters, Cerveris, Patinkin, McDonald, and More, 3/15 & 3/16

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. Paul Gemignani, Mr. Sondheim's longtime collaborator, will conduct the New York Philharmonic; Lonny Price is the director; and Mr. Price and Matt Cowart are the producers. (more...)

As part of the Arena Presents series, Maureen McGovern comes to Arena Stage with A Long and Winding Road, an entertaining and introspective theatrical concert based on her recent album of the same name. Zachary Quinto in Talks to Star in Speilberg-Helmed Gershwin Biopic

Television and film star Zach Quinto is expected to star in the upcoming George Gershwin biopic, produced by DreamWorks and Steven Speilberg, according to published reports. Quinto, star of television's 'Heroes' and the recent JJ Abrams Star Trek remake, will play the famed composer who, during his short life, wrote many vocal and theatrical works, including more than a dozen Broadway shows. Krakowski, McGovern, Eder and More Join Daly and Buckley at Feinstein's in 2010

Broadway stars Jane Krakowski, Maureen McGovern, and Linda Eder will join previously announced Tyne Daly and Betty Buckley with performance at Feinstein's at Regency in 2010. Krakowski will appear from May 4th through 15th and Eder from April 6th through 17th, while McGovern will present her cabaret show A Long and Winding Road for two performances on February 8th.
