Children's Playhouse of Maryland Presents FAME JR., Now thru 5/20by BWW News Desk - May 5, 2012Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. (CPM), in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, performs FAME Jr. 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday today, May 5 and May 6, 12,-13, 19- 20 and 4 p.m. March 13 in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. The 4 p.m. show will be sign-language interpreted by students from the CCBC Catonsville Interpreter Preparation Program. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for birthday parties or scout troops. Each week has a new theme to 'Gleek' Out! and sure to be a lifetime of memories for the performers. New this summer, TADA! will also offer a two-week half-day program for kids ages 4-5 in both July and August, giving even younger singers and dancers the chance to participate. The MainStreet Theatre Company Presents A WRINKLE IN TIME, Now thru 5/20by BWW News Desk - May 5, 2012The MainStreet Theatre Company ends its 6th season with an adaptation of Madeleine L'Engles' Newberry Award winning classic A Wrinkle in Time. The book is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and The MainStreet Theatre Company was awarded a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to help support the production. Performances run from tonight, May 5th through May 20th at Rancho Cucamonga's Lewis Family Playhouse in the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. CA's The Rrazz Room Presents Valerie Simpson in Tribute to Her Late Husband Nick Ashford, 5/8-5/13by BWW News Desk - May 4, 2012The Rrazz Room, a San Francisco nightclub, will present the debut solo engagement of Valerie Simpson from May 8 to May 13. Ms. Simpson wrote love songs with her husband and writing partner, Nick Ashford, including 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough,' 'You're All I Need To Get By,' 'Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)' and 'Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing.' He died of throat cancer in August at the age of 70. Valerie will perform all their greatest hits in this moving once in a lifetime concert experience. The RRazz Room has been the Bay Area 'home' of Nick & Val since its inception. (more...)

News Desk - May 4, 2012Asolo Repertory Theatre announces its final 2012 repertory production, Hamlet, Prince of Cuba, adapted and directed by Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards and featuring a Spanish translation by Pulitzer Prize-winner Nilo Cruz. Hamlet, Prince of Cuba will run March 23 through May 6 in the Mertz Theatre. Previews (in English) will begin March 21. Set in late 19th century Cuba, the show will have two performances in Spanish with English supertitles. Spanish performances will be May 3 at 8 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. After concluding its run at Asolo Rep, the show will move to the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center where it will perform May 11-13. Hamlet, Prince of Cuba will feature guest artist Frankie J. Alvarez as Hamlet, Gisela Chipe (of Asolo Rep's Yentl) as Ophelia, Emilio Delgado as Claudius (known for his performance as Luis on Sesame Street), Mercedes Herrero as Gertrude and Andhy Mendez as Laertes.
