Steppenwolf Theatre Company is excited to announce its 2009-2010 Subscription Season, exploring the theme of belief. Season subscriptions go on-sale to the public on Tuesday, February 3 at 11 a.m. Steppenwolf ensemble members currently confirmed for the 2009-2010 Season include: Alana Arenas, Kate Arrington, Ian Barford, Frank Galati, Jon Michael Hill, Francis Guinan, Tina Landau, Tracy Letts, Amy Morton, William Petersen, Rondi Reed, Anna D. The lure of a world premiere play by Pulitzer winner Donald Margulies (Dinner with Friends) directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof) is enticing enough to convince actors Anna Gunn (HBO's Deadwood, AMC's Breaking Bad), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Miss Match), David Harbour (Quantum of Solace, Revolutionary Road, State of Play) and Robin Thomas (Damages, Murphy Brown) to temporarily forgo the screens for a stint at the Geffen Playhouse. The second produced work in the Geffen's ongoing commission program, Time Stands Still opens February 11, 2009 on the theater's main stage.

La Jolla Playhouse's Artistic Director Christopher Ashley is proud to announce the six productions in the 2009/2010 season. Brava is proud to present Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore! (B!D!F!W!) as its first main stage production of its 2008-2009 season. After touring 22 cities around the world, Brava is excited to bring this groundbreaking work to San Francisco audiences. 'In a town that is so progressive, I was surprised that this show still hadn't made it to San Francisco so when I was creating my first season as the Artistic Director at Brava, I made sure that it was scheduled in this season,' says Raelle Myrick-Hodges, the Artistic Director at Brava. In 1990, during the Senator Helms' National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Censorship Crisis, performance artist Penny Arcade submitted her Sex and Censorship Show, B!D!F!W! as her NEA Fellowship audit. Although B!D!F!W!, which is a blend of political humanism and erotic dancing, was not awarded a fellowship, it did go on to play for an unprecedented year Off-Broadway in New York as an underground hit and then went on the road and became a commercial mainstream hit play in 22 cities around the world, turning the political correctness of the theatre world upside down, and heralding the zeitgeist as B!D!F!W! proved that content and sensationalism cannot co-exist. Irish grandmothers, to people of all ages, from all walks of life joined Penny Arcade and her cast of erotic dancers on stage for the audience dance break at the center of the performance. B!D!F!W! went on to establish erotic dance as a feminist art form and the comedic cultural criticism broke down the separation and isolation between people of diverse racial, ethnic, sexual and economic groups and left an international Neo Burlesque Movement in its wake.

Evolve 2009 is a San Francisco city-wide celebration honoring the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, and the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species. The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) will be one of more than 20 local institutions participating in the celebration by hosting performances, lectures and activities.

After the holidays have passed, Berkeley Repertory Theatre will still have a gift for local families: free activities throughout the year. Its monthly Family Series continues in 2009, promising family fun for everyone. The classes take place in the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre at 2071 Addison Street in downtown Berkeley, near bus lines, bike routes, and parking lots - and only half a block from BART. There is no cost to attend; Berkeley Rep suggests instead that each family bring a book as a donation for the library at the nearby John Muir Elementary School.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional, not-for-profit theatre announces its 2009 conference: Roots. Renaissance. Revolution. From June 4-6, 2009, the theatre community will come together in Baltimore to investigate how generational perspectives affect the entire field, including the choice of plays produced, the atmosphere created in workplaces, the appeal of various leadership styles, and the processes used to identify, attract and retain audiences.

McCarter Theater Center has added new events for 2009. Ben Folds has been scheduled for February 11, 2009 at 8pm. Over the last 15 years, Ben Folds' first-class melodic gifts, irony-laced lyrics, and punk-rock tendency to play piano as if it were a contact sport have earned the North Carolina native a legion of devoted fans of all ages. Kris Kristofferson has been booked for February 27, 2009 at 8pm.

Planet Connections Theater Festivity will premiere in June 2009 as a new festival designed to promote awareness in the theatrical community about social and cultural issues. Formed by two Spotlight On Festival alums, Glory Bowen and Frank Calo, the festival will explore using theater as a tool for social change while connecting artists with new audiences in fun theatrical environment. The goals of the festival are to inspire people to get involved and fight for world causes.

Wayne R. Reynolds, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Ford's Theatre Society, Paul R. Tetreault, Director of Ford's Theatre Society, and Kym Elder, Superintendent of Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, announced today that Ford's Theatre will reopen in February 2009 after an 18-month renovation. Ford's Theatre will celebrate with one week of public and private events honoring Abraham Lincoln's life and legacy. The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign, a $50 million capital campaign to support the renovation of Ford's Theatre and its museum as well as the building of the new Center for Education and Leadership, has raised $43 million to date.

Shakespeare's Globe announced its 2009 theatre season, which opens on Shakespeare's birthday, 23 April, and goes under the overall title of Young Hearts. The Shakespeare plays will be Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Troilus and Cressida and a revival of Dominic Dromgoole's 2007 production of Love's Labour's Lost, prior to embarking upon a North American tour in the autumn.

The Town Hall, Times Square's landmark concert venue, is pleased to announce its 2009 season lineup. Headliners include two-time Grammy nominee Mariza, Grammy-nominated Celtic and folk fiddler Natalie MacMaster, Grammy-nominated bossa nova singer Bebel Gilberto, Golden Globe nominee Andrea Marcovicci's Birthday Concert and Grammy Award-winning King of Salsa Johnny Pacheco.
