The Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) will hold open auditions for its 2009-2010 Season Saturday & Sunday, August 15 & 16 from 1PM-5PM at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center (EJ High School Auditorium), 400 Phlox Street in Metairie.
Mark Murphy, executive director of REDCAT (the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater), today announced programming for REDCAT's 2009 Fall Season. REDCAT's seventh season introduces Los Angeles to some of the most dynamic and influential developments in performing, visual and media arts from around the world.
The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson ('This Beautiful City'), composer Michael Friedman ('This Beautiful City,' 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson') and book writer Bess Wohl ('Cats Talk Back,' 'In') have begun investigations in Los Angeles for an untitled porn musical. The new project from the award-winning investigative theatre company is commissioned by Center Theatre Group, which presented The Civilians' 'This Beautiful City' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in 2008.
Cape Rep Theatre will produce the classic Broadway Musical My Fair Lady by Allan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe as part of the 2009 Indoor Theatre Season. Goodman Theatre is proud to announce the complete creative team for the 2009/2010 season opening musical Animal Crackers, written by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind, with music and lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby. Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media, has announced an innovative and diverse programming lineup for Outfest 2009: The 27th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The nation's leading LGBT festival and the oldest continuously running film festival in the city will be held July 9 to 19.
Sundance Institute today announced the five projects chosen for the 2009 Sundance Institute Theatre Lab to be held July 7 -22 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Producer Jeffrey Finn announced today that OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, will have its first-ever Broadway production as part of the 2009-2010 Broadway Season. Starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes, the play is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students.
