Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season. The season kicks off with MINOR CHARACTER: SIX TRANSLATIONS OF UNCLE VANYA, created by New Saloon (Morgan Green, Madeline Wise, and Milo Cramer), followed by FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill (Love and Information). The season will conclude with a new, intimate chamber production of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. In a shift that begins this season, Morgan Green (William Shakespeare's Mom) will direct all three productions, showcasing the talents and range of the rising director.

Square One Theatre concludes its current season with the stage production of Becoming Dr. Ruth, which is filled with the humor, honesty and life-affirming spirit of Karola Ruth Siegel, the girl who would later become Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. It's just a handful of hours until the 70th annual Tony Awards, and New York City and theatre fans across the world are excitedly buzzing about this year's ceremonies which will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 8/7c on CBS. This Broadway season has some exciting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at least pre-ordering).

The New School's College of Performing Arts is pleased to welcome the public for the second edition of its new (Un)Silent Film Night series, in which the College of Performing Arts Theater Orchestra, under the baton ofGary Fagin, will perform contemporary composer Carl Davis' score to Harold Lloyd's classic silent film Speedy (1928). Celebrated actor and comedian Bill Irwin will host the event, a follow-up to the April 2015 debut of (Un)SilentFilm Night, which was hosted by Matthew Broderick and drew a capacity crowd to the 400-plus-seat Tishman Auditorium at University Center.

Aside from eclectic solo work, he has also partnered with others over the years with mixed results. On Sunday evening, 54 Below celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the musical Grand Hotel on Broadway in high style with two performances crackling with energy and featuring a talented roster of performers including 13 from the original cast. Splendidly Directed (and Written) by Walter Willison, with Musical Direction by Alex Rybeck, Bass Accompaniment from Ray Kiddain, and Dance Supervision by Yvonne Marceau, the delicious production (one really can't call it a concert despite lack of dialogue) was fluid, polished, and imaginative in its use of the room. From leads to the chorus, voices were strong, commitment thorough. In the audience, Tommy Tune must've had a helluva time. We did.

The Producer of The Cape Playhouse, Mark Cuddy, today announced the remaining two productions for the historic theater's 89th Season in Dennis, MA. Six professional productions - a mix of comedies, dramas & musicals - and starring Broadway actors, will play from June 16 - September 5, 2015.
