A classic tap-happy musical and a new production of a legendary Broadway comedy are highlights of Bucks County Playhouse's 2018 Season. Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler announced details of the season, which will kick off at the historic Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania on May 19.

The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists.  Sheltered, the 14th competition winner, is the story of one American couple's harrowing decision to rescue 50 Jewish children from Europe during WWII.  Sheltered is written by Alix Sobler who recently earned her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, Sheltered will be staged at Actor's Express, March 1 - 25, 2018. 

Breathing new life into the 1939 classic motion picture, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams' adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ finally landed in Sydney to the delight of the opening night audience. As she completes her first year as Artistic Director of Theatr Clwyd, Tamara Harvey today announces the 2017 Summer and Autumn seasons for the company. These include four world premieres; BoHo, a co-production with Hijinx Theatre which features both learning disabled and non-disabled actors, and, after a successful collaboration on the production of Love Lies and Taxidermy, Theatr Clwyd reunites with Paines Plough to open the 2017 Roundabout Season with co-productions of Black Mountain, Out Of Love and How To Be A Kid in collaboration with the Orange Tree Theatre. The Theatr Clwyd and Sheffield Theatres co-production of a new adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, by Welsh Playwright Peter Gill, will be directed by Harvey and will open at Clwyd from the 21 September ahead of transferring to Sheffield Theatres as part of Robert Hastie's inaugural season.

To deepen our understanding of the most powerful, charismatic and complex Black politician of modern times, Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, in association with Castillo Theatre, will present 'ADAM,' a bio-drama on Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. by Peter Deanda, from tonight, February 9, to March 12 at Castillo Theater, 543 West 42nd Street.

Beginning 10 May 2017, Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia will present the work of the pre-eminent American painter Philip Guston (1913 - 1980) in a major exhibition exploring the artist's oeuvre in relation to critical literary interpretation. In a spirit reflective of how Guston himself cultivated the sources of his inspiration, 'Philip Guston and The Poets' considers the ideas and writings of major 20th century poets as catalysts for his enigmatic pictures and visions. Featuring works that span a fifty-year period in Guston's artistic career, the exhibition includes 50 major paintings and 25 prominent drawings dating from 1930 until his death in 1980. The exhibition draws parallels between the essential humanist themes reflected in these works, and the language and prose of five poets: D. H. Lawrence (British, 1885 - 1930), W. B. Yeats (Irish, 1865 - 1939), Wallace Stevens (American, 1879 - 1955), Eugenio Montale (Italian, 1896 - 1981) and T. S. Eliot (American-born, British, 1888 - 1965).

Greece's most prominent film director of the post-1968 era, Theo Angelopoulos (1935–2012) was a master cinema stylist. His investigations into history and politics, tyranny and resistance, and spiritual anomie and emotional devastation place him on equal footing with filmmakers like Andrei Tarkovsky, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Wim Wenders. Today, at a time when Greece has struggled with impending economic collapse, and as the country's refugee crisis has worsened, with displaced populations fleeing war in the Middle East and massing on its borders, the themes of Angelopoulos's cinema are pressing once again. Museum of the Moving Image will present Eternity and History: The Cinema of Theo Angelopoulos, a complete retrospective of the director's career—the first in the United States in 25 years—from July 8 through 24, 2016. The retrospective will also be presented at the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from July 15 through August 22. The presentation of the retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image was made possible with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce.

Bay Street Theater has announced the full cast and creative team for THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, the Tony Award-winning play by Alfred Uhry, directed by Will Pomerantz. The production will run June 28 - July 24.
