On the heels of the Donmar’s revelatory production of JULIUS CAESAR, which empowered women to play Shakespearean roles normally reserved for men, director Phyllida Lloyd has set a second play, Henry IV, against the backdrop of women in prison. Harriet Walter, “one of the best Shakespeareans alive” (The Guardian), will once again lead a diverse and exciting all-female cast in Shakespeare’s monumental history play which travels to the heart of family, duty and country.

Rehearsals begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21 for the Playwrights Horizons production of POCATELLO, the world premiere of a new play by Obie, Drama Desk and Lortel awards winner and 2014 MacArthur Foundation 'Genius' grantee Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale at PH, The Few, A Bright New Boise). Directed by Davis McCallum (The Whale at PH, The Few, London Wall, A Bright New Boise, Water by the Spoonful), the play will be the third production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.

The Washington Stage Guild announces its 29th season of our distinctive repertory, an array of eloquent plays of idea and argument, passion and wit-smart theatre for a smart town. The 2014-2015 season includes the second part of our multi-year presentation of George Bernard Shaw's BACK TO METHUSELAH, and as the visionary cycle leaps into the future and examines the effect of human advances on relationships, the other three plays also focus on unexpected looks at basic ties to create A SEASON OF LOVE AND/OR MARRIAGE. Two Washington premieres are joined by two plays not seen here in decades, as we offer our first productions by two of Shaw's followers, Frederick Lonsdale and Terence Rattigan, and one by a contemporary American playwright, David Marshall Grant.

Following a critically acclaimed run at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe, William Gaminara's comedy The Three Lionsreturns for a national tour and run at St. James Theatre, London. The production begins its tour at Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford (2 - 7 March 2015), before travelling to the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich (9 - 14 March 2015) and Liverpool Playhouse (16 - 21 March), ahead of a six week run at St James Theatre. There it will open on 26 March, with previews from 24 March, and run until 2 May. Philip Wilson directs Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, Tom Davey and Sean Browne - recreating their roles of David Beckham, David Cameron and Prince William from the original run.

Rehearsals begin today, Thursday, October 2 in New York City for The River, a new play by Jez Butterworth, starring Hugh Jackman, Laura Donnelly and Cush Jumbo and directed by Ian Rickson. The River begins preview performances in four weeks on Friday, October 31 and will open on Sunday, November 16 at the Circle in the Square Theatre (50th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The production will play a strictly limited 13-week engagement through Sunday, January 25, 2015.

Katie Brayben to Star in West End's BEAUTIFUL - THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, February

Katie Brayben will play the title role in the West End production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musicalopening at the Aldwych Theatre in February next year. Alan Morrissey will play King's husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, with Lorna Want as song-writer Cynthia Weil, Glynis Barber as Genie Klein, King's mother, and Gary Trainor as music publisher and producer Don Kirshner. London previews beginning on 10 February 2015 and with the show currently booking to 13 June 2015. Press night will now take place on 24 February at 7pm. Final casting will be announced shortly.

Robert Richmond (Richard III and Henry V at Folger) directs the epic portrait of the battle between ambition and honor, conspiracy and loyalty, leading an outstanding ensemble including Anthony Cochrane (Broadway's War Horse and Folger's Henry VIII) as the honorable Marcus Brutus, and Maurice Jones, making his Folger Theatre debut as Caesar's closest ally, Mark Antony.
