Beach, Hoty & Lewis To Lead Music Circus Season

Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. Broadway In Chicago is excited to announce Tony Award winners Roger Bart and Shuler Hensley will reprise the roles of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein and The Monster in the first national tour of The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein. The Chicago engagement will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre for a limited six week engagement November 3 - December 13, 2009.

Ken Davenport, producer of the Broadway hits Blithe Spirit and Speed-the-Plow, and the Off-Broadway hits Altar Boyz, My First Time, and The Awesome 80s Prom, and a recent Tony Award nominee for Will Ferrell?s You?re Welcome America, today proudly announces that Leslie Arden will write the score for the new musical, Somewhere in Time (www.somewhereintimethemusical.com), based on the novel by Richard Matheson and the Universal film, which starred Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Mr. Matheson and Mr. Davenport will collaborate on the book. Stafford Arima, currently represented by Altar Boyz at New World Stages, will direct.

The New York Times is revealing that while the current Broadway revival of 'Guys and Dolls' opened on Sunday night to widespread negative reviews, the producers held discussions today about the show's future and have decided to keep it running as they believe in the quality of the production. The first step post opening is to focus on advertising and marketing as the reviews give those department less than helpful quotes to nab for media attention.
