A New York City police sergeant tries to intentionally lose some money by backing a Broadway show, The Rhinestone Girl, that is sure to fail. When it becomes a hit, an investigation into police corruption is launched. The police sergeant’s wife saves the day by donating the profits from the show to the city’s depleated treasury.

Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival (EMF) returns for its ninth year, bringing together composers and performers from diverse musical backgrounds for six, one-night-only performances featuring world premieres, new arrangements and the opportunity to hear artists discuss their work. Hailed as 'the alt-classical world's main showcase' (The New York Times) and 'a feather in the cap of the avant-classical scene' (The New Yorker), the festival kicks off on January 7, 2019 and runs through March 21. The only festival that exclusively presents new work resulting from collaborations, the EMF is curated by composer and New Amsterdam Records Co-Director Judd Greenstein with Merkin Hall Director Amy Roberts Frawley.

Dan Boeckner and Operators Present Handsome Furs Music in NYC and Toronto

Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Divine Fits) and his band Operators are bringing back the music of the prolific musician's former duo Handsome Furs. They will be playing music from Handsome Furs' catalogue for the first time in six years at NYC's Baby's All Right on December 13th and December 15th at Toronto's Lee's Palace.
