Chamber Trio David Finckel, Wu Han, and Phil Setzer To Perform at Meany Hall, 5/21

Violinist Philip Setzer joins David Finckel and Wu Han, co-artistic directors of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, to form a dynamic chamber music trio. Finckel and Han, Musical America's 2012 Musicians of the Year, and Setzer rank among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Setzer is a current and founding member of the Emerson String Quartet and performed with Finckel for 34 years in that ensemble.

David Finckel, Wu Han, and Phil Setzer perform at Meany Hall Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $38-43. The UW World Series also offers up to two Free Youth Tickets (ages 5-17 only) with the purchase of a Regular Price ticket. About David Finckel, Wu Han, and Phillip Setzer

Cellist David Finckel's multifaceted career as concert performer, recording artist, educator, arts administrator, and cultural entrepreneur places him in the ranks of today's most influential classical musicians. Named Musical America's 2012 Musicians of the Year with pianist Wu Han, his concert appearances as orchestral soloist and duo recitalist take him to the world's most prestigious concert series and festivals. David Finckel's wide-ranging musical activities also include the launch of ArtistLed, classical music's first musician-directed, Internet-based recording company. David Finckel and Wu Han serve as Artistic Directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Chamber Music Today Festival in Korea. They are also the founders and Artistic Directors of Music@Menlo, a chamber music festival in the San Francisco Bay Area. David is Professor of Cello at The Juilliard School, and Artist-in-Residence at Stony Brook University.

Named Musical America's 2012 Musician of the Year, pianist Wu Han ranks among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. She appears regularly in many prestigious venues across the United States, Europe, and the Far East as both soloist and chamber musician, and tours extensively as duo pianist with cellist David Finckel. Wu Han and David Finckel serve as Artistic Directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Chamber Music Today, an annual festival held in Korea. They are also the founding Artistic Directors of Music@Menlo, a chamber music festival in Silicon Valley. Wu Han's wide-ranging musical activities include the founding of ArtistLed, classical music's first musician-directed and Internet-based recording company. Passionately committed to education, in 2013 she launched a new chamber music studio at the Aspen Music Festival.

Philip Setzer is a founding member of the Emerson String Quartet, which has received eight Grammy Awards, three Gramophone Awards, and the coveted Avery Fisher Prize, and has performed cycles of the complete Beethoven, Bartók, and Shostakovich string quartets in the world's musical capitals, from New York to Vienna. As a soloist, he has appeared on several occasions with The Cleveland Orchestra, with the Aspen Chamber Orchestra, and also with the National, Memphis, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, Omaha and Anchorage Symphonies. Mr. Setzer is a tenured Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Stony Brook University and has given master classes at schools around the world. He has been a regular faculty member of the Isaac Stern Chamber Music Workshops at Carnegie Hall and the Jerusalem Music Center.

Free Youth Tickets: The UW World Series offers up to two Free Youth Tickets (ages 5-17 only) with the purchase of a ticket to any Chamber Music or President's Piano Series event. The Free Youth Ticket was created to engage young audiences in classical music, encourage families to share the experience of hearing great music together, and extend our educational experiences from the classroom to the concert hall.

Location and parking: Meany Hall is located on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington, on 15th Avenue NE between NE 40th and 41st Streets. Parking for Meany Hall is available in the Central Parking Garage (entrance at 15th Avenue and 41st Street). On-street metered parking is also available.
