Tell us a bit about Attenborough.
I wanted to celebrate one of my all time heroes and a genuine National Treasure David Attenborough, and what better way of celebrating someone than to make up lies about them? This is a fictionalised story of David Attenborough hunting the most elusive of creatures, the Sasquatch. Its is about discovery, adventure and what it is to be a hero. And some of it is about animal poo.
What inspired you to write the show?
At a time when everything felt very negative and there were a lot of villains getting plenty of attention on the world stage I wanted to celebrate a truly great person. I don't know anyone who doesn't like David Attenborough, and researching the show meant i got to rewatch a lot of his documentaries which is such a joy.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
If you don't bring your Edinburgh fringe show to the Edinburgh Fringe I find it is hard for it to be seen by people. By bringing my Edinburgh show to the Edinburgh Fringe festival I have increased the possibility of it being seen by an Edinburgh Fringe audience by around 100%
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
It features a young David Attenborough recounting the tale of when he went hunting the Sasquatch. Are there any other shows like that at the fringe? Yes, probably, but I have a nice jacket.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Fans of David Attenborough, fans of animals, fans of silly jokes, fans of Slide Shows, Fans of adventure stories and fans of mine, the last one may be a bit of a stretch.
Timings and ticket information for Tom Neenan: Attenborough are available on the edfringe website.
