Tell us a bit about Harun With A View.
The show explores my complicated national, family and professional backgrounds and how that has influenced my political and religious views. It's a mixture of personal storytelling and political satire.
How has audience response been so far?
I've performed it ten times so far so far and the audience response has been very positive and encouraging.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
I've performed at the Fringe before as part of showcases and long wanted to be able to do a solo show. The Edinburgh Fringe is like no other festival.
What sets it apart from other comedy shows at the festival?
Partly my background as an ageing Swiss-Sri-lankan-British-atheistic HR manager in the public sector who comes from a broken extended family, which informs the thread of the show. That and the high quota of political material (not unique, I know, but unusual).
Who would you recommend comes to see your show?
Anyone who is a Swiss-Srilankan-British atheist from a broken home can probably best relate to the show. But it appears from audience reactions that even those who don't agree with my views have enjoyed the show. Apart from the pious. They should stay away and pray.
