As we get closer to opening night, meet some of the incredible cast that is working so hard to bring the Seussiverse to the Grinton Will Library January 13th-15th.! Meet Moriel Behar, Sofia Newman and Adriana Nocco who play The Bird Girls!
Moriel Behar is new to LRT and is so happy to be playing Bad Girl...*cough* excuse me, Bird Girl. A Seattle-ite turned New Yorker, Moriel recently graduated this past May from NYU Tisch's New Studio on Broadway for Musical Theatre. She just finished her NYC run in the off-Broadway production of Wild Women of Planet Wongo, after a summer at Summer Theatre of New Canaan as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and Spiker in James and the Giant Peach. Past favorite roles include Nancy in Oliver, Lucy in Avenue Q, "The Actress" in Neil Simon's The Good Doctor and a witch in Macbeth.
Sofia used to listen to Seussical every night at bedtime, so her childhood dreams are currently coming true. Favorite stage credits include Neworld Theatre's Doost, Mona in Why I Hate Utah (which she also co-directed and co-produced), Inez McCormack in Seven, Claire in Rumors, Mary Snow in Salt-Water Moon, Jan in Grease, and H in Theatre Replacement's international co-production of That Night Follows Day. She also participated in Carousel Theatre's Teen Shakespeare Programme from 2008-2014, where she played such roles as Don Armado, Hamlet, Trinculo, and Mark Antony. Film & TV credits include The 100, The Flash, Lucifer, Death Note, Beaches, Live Like Line, Status Update, Paper Angels, and From America, With Love.
Adriana, a recent Bryn Mawr College graduate, is a practiced singer, actor, dancer, and director. She is thrilled to be returning to LRT, having previously performed in Damn Yankees' (summer 2014), and is having a blast playing a sassy, ever-dramatic Bird Girl as part of the "amayzing" cast of 'Seussical!' Adriana has completed summer intensives at both the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC), rehearsed and studied in Iceland, and has sung at Carnegie Hall as a guest artist amongst world-renowned musicians. Select past credits: Avenue Q (Lucy), 42 nd Street (Lorraine Fleming), Spring Awakening (Adult Female Roles), RENT (Benny), Reefer Madness (Brownie), King Lear (Cornwall), The Children's Hour (Lily Mortar), Pygmalion (Mrs. Pearce/Mrs. Higgins), and The Vagina Monologues.
