Hoff-Barthelson Music School Summer Arts Program provides the ideal setting for a stimulating, challenging, enjoyable and fun-filled summer for second through tenth graders. With its exceptional faculty, boasting some of the top performers and music educators in the country, the School is uniquely suited to offer a quality summer experience of music, visual arts and theater. The curriculum includes instrumental classes, chamber music, a variety of ensembles, visual arts, and musical theater workshops, classes in music technology and Jazz Jam Fridays. Students at all levels of advancement receive instruction in a program individually tailored to their needs and interests.
The 2017 Summer Arts Program runs Monday through Friday beginning June 26 through July 28, 2017, at the School, located at 25 School Lane in Scarsdale, New York. Early-bird discounts on tuition are in effect through March 31, 2017.
About the Program:
The Morning Program, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., is divided into three age categories: Elementary (students entering 2nd and 3rd grades); Junior (students entering 4th through 6th grade); and Senior (students entering 7th through 10th grade). Students enrolled in the Elementary program receive an instrumental group lesson, take a visual arts class, a drama workshop, and perform in weekly concerts. Offerings for students in the Junior and Senior programs include instrumental group lessons, orchestra, wind ensemble, chorus, percussion, jazz band, visual arts, drama workshops, classes in the School's state-of-the-art Music Technology Lab, musicianship classes and weekly concerts.
About the Extended Day and Extended Day Plus! Programs:
The Extended Day and Extended Day Plus! Programs build on the Morning Program and offer an array of options including Simple Symphony, Composers Corner, Piano for Non-Pianists, Creative Keyboard, World Drumming, Time for Chimes, Chamber Music Workshop, Advanced Jazz Workshop, HB Rocks! and a Musical Theater Workshop.

Jazz Jam Fridays - Students enrolled in the Summer Arts Advanced Jazz Program will have the exciting opportunity to jam with illustrious jazz performer and teacher Ed Palermo from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. for the first two Fridays of the program.
Music Theater Workshop - A fun-filled way to learn multiple disciplines and skills! Students experience improvisation, theater games, classical mime, "selling the song" in vocal performance, and basic theater dance. The cooperative atmosphere focuses on the joy of the final performance.
