About the Album: CAUCUS! THE MUSICAL - Original Cast Recording features all twelve songs by the original cast of the premiere production which opened December 27, 2007 at the State Historical Museum Theatre in Des Moines, Iowa. When an Iowa farmer and his family become the darlings of the national media because they represent the typical Iowa caucus-goers, the major presidential candidates realize they must do anything to win their votes! As the stakes become higher, the family becomes more fractured and the candidates become more desperate...until a very chaotic gathering provides a moment of clarity for everyone. If you've spent any time in Iowa during caucus season, or if you reside in one of the other 49 states and wondered why an undersized state plays an oversized role in the presidential selection process, you'll recognize and laugh along with all of the songs that depict these colorful characters and the hilarious situations in which they find themselves! CAUCUS! THE MUSICAL was created and produced entirely by Iowa theatre artists, played to 15 sold-out/standing ovation performances in its premiere production, and is currently scheduled for production at numerous theatres across the country. For more information about the play, visit the play's website at caucusthemusical.com or do an internet search of CAUCUS THE MUSICAL and read/view one of the more than 200 feature stories in the national media (including links to stories on The CBS Evening New, ABC s Nightline, CNN and Fox News). A real winner...Ford s script and remarkably catchy score carry the show...The Tough Question Sidestep (is) a jazzy tour de force worthy of Chicago. - The Des Moines Register, January 2, 2008 The crowd howled over the songs...the show became an underground hit. - The Los Angeles Times, October 8, 2007 As astute as it is audacious...the script is full of lyrical gems...twelve songs in the show, eleven brilliantly hysterical and one thoughtful. - Foster s.com, January 10, 2008 There is no greater humor than humor based in truth, which is what makes this musical comedy so hilarious. My favorite number, 'The Tough Question Sidestep,' should seriously be released by a major label - it puts Denis Leary's 'I'm an Asshole' to shame - along with 'Get off Your Sorry Ass and Vote,' the show's closing number. - The Wire, January 10, 2008
