The Apothecary Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of the ensemble created play how i learned to become a Superhero, written by Dennis Flanagan, directed by Christopher Klinger.. ...Superhero will begin performances on Thursday, April 4 and will celebrate its opening on Sunday, April 7, 2013 (running through April 27) at The Gloria Maddox Theatre at T. Schreiber Studios (151 W. 26th St.). Tickets are $25 and are available on www.apothecarytheatrecompany.org. how i learned to become a Superhero follows the stories of three people who have taken action against the losses they have suffered in their lives by turning themselves into real life "Superheroes". Whether the Manhattan transplant "Safety Pilot" and his sidekick, the Seattle native "Hope", or the Baltimore renegade "Guardian Angel", the heroes have to face the consequences of playing make believe in a world that is all too real, where consequences of the past are always present, and the future uncertain. how i learned to become a Superhero is the result of a series of workshops by The Apothecary Theatre Company that began over a year ago. It explored the trend of "normal" citizens creating alter-identities and going above and beyond their civic duty in their communities. |
