Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced today that their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will launch a North American tour beginning this November in Providence, R.I at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will play more than 20 multi-week engagements through next year, including Cincinnati, OH and Minneapolis, MN. A complete tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. First unveiled in March, 2012 in Plymouth, England, this reinvented PHANTOM has been an enormous box-office and critical hit throughout the U.K. (more...)

For its 21st annual Spring Gala, the Kennedy Center will present My Fair Lady in Concert on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. The famed 1956 musical features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe and will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The concert staging will be accompanied by the 35-piece Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra conducted by Music Director James Moore. (more...)

Rialto Chatter: New Stephen Sondheim & David Ives Musical to be Based on ALL IN THE TIMING?

As previously reported, Stephen Sondheim and David Ives have teamed up on a new musical, which is currently in early phases of composition. According to the Village Voice, the show, titled All Together Now, is based on 'a small moment' from Ives' All in the Timing and that it will go backwards in time, similar to Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Allong. There is no word yet on which part of All in the Timing (which is a series of one-act plays) the show will be based. (more...)

Forbidden Broadway cast to Make Appearance on 'Good Day NY' Tomorrow

The cast of Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway: ALIVE AND KICKING! will be performing parodies of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe in the film Les Miserables on Good Day New York on Wednesday, February 27,2013 in the 9'oclock hour. The hit musical at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street - just west of Eighth Avenue) continues through April 28th and is co-directed by Phillip George.
