2012 Gawad Buhay Outstanding Original Script awardee, Ron Capinding, directs the campus-based production. According to its production notes, "The King of the Birds" stems from Sufism, a worldview that antedates Islamic teachings. The birds' perilous journey becomes a metaphor for people's quest for meaning and the discovery of a truth. The play's ending provides a metaphysical answer to humanity's redemption from ignorance, fear, and bitter conflict. For tickets, contact Angelique Basa at (63) 9176309097. Photo by Nikki Jurado |
