R.Evolución Latina (RL), the arts based nonprofit organization founded by Luis Salgado continues to follow the philosophy of "Daring to Go Beyond" by taking it's Beyond Workshop Series (BWS) to Lima, Peru and uniting the local community through the arts.
"We fulfilled part of the mission of the BWS even before our first day or work by uniting the local teaching artists in Lima," says Founder/Director Luis Salgado. On January 14th, nine teaching artists in disciplines such as Voice, Acting and Dance came together specifically for this project and are for the first time getting to know each other and collaborating due to this program. This group of artists is strengthened by New York artists Luis Salgado, Gabriela Garcia and Doreen Montalvo.
This professional scholarship program provides training to Latino artists through a series of class disciplines such as voice, acting, audition technique, contemporary dance, musical theater, ballet, hip hop, and much more. Through this training process, students face challenges that build their self-confidence and develop the critical leadership skills required to unite their community.
"We feel that it is important for RL to share it's philosophy where ever there is a need for it" says Gabriela Garcia, Co-Founder/Director of the organization, "and thank to supporters like Lucia Navarro and Pura Vibra Produccions we are able to award 58 scholarships to local young artists in Lima".
RL's goal is not only to award the best possible performing arts classes to participants but also to create leaders, self awareness, and motivate these young artists to take action in their local community. RL will set the example on January 18th and 19th, while visiting the small Afro-Peruvian district of El Carmen in Chincha an area which is slowly rising from the damages of the earthquake in 2007. In collaboration with Pura Vibra productions and Peruvian photographer, Evelyn Merino Reyna and her organization Pacificum Peru, RL will take part in an event celebrating the 5th centennial of the discovery of the Pacific Ocean. Much of Chincha's culture is inspired by it's proximity to the sea and as we bring music and arts to this area we strive to create a healthier community, generating a space for education and entertainment which can make a difference within the population. 175 children and youth from Chincha will be participating in this arts workshop with 35 volunteers from our BWS-Peru, that will help teach and give back to this community. This is where the mission is completed, where the students get to give back to their community by using the tools they have just learned to inspire, motivate and share their knowledge with a younger generation, MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH THE ARTS.
