THE LION KING Special Exhibit in Bryant Park Opens Workshops - 12/8/2012
‘Inside The Lion King,' the first immersive, pop-up exhibit ever created for a Broadway show, arrives adjacent to Bryant Park, on 42nd Street and Avenue of the Americas, for a limited time to celebrate 15 years of The Lion King in New York City. More than 65 million people have experienced The Lion King, but never before like this. In this free exhibit, fans of all ages will experience and interact with 86 museum-quality artifacts including hand-made puppets, sculpted masks, elaborate artisan costumes and extraordinary sets that have appeared in productions from around the world.

Rattlestick's 2012 F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS! Festival Comes to a Close - 12/10/2012
Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced that the 2012 F*ck!ng Good Plays (festival, III)--ten (10) days of new play readings by nine (9) of today's hottest playwrights--will begin Saturday, December 1 and continue through Monday, December 10. Trip Cullman Directs PTERODACTYLS Reading at Vineyard Theatre - 12/10/2012
Vineyard Theatre continues its series of one-night-only readings of notable plays from its acclaimed history in celebration of the company's 30th Anniversary with Nicky Silver's award winning 1993 hit PTERODACTYLS, directed by Trip Cullman. An absurdist black comedy about the demise of the Duncan family, and, by extension, the species, PTERODACTYLS will feature Emmy Award-winner Penny Fuller (THE DINNER PARTY, APPLAUSE) as Duncan family matriarch, Grace; Tony-nominee Bobby Steggert (RAGTIME) as son, Todd; Virginia Kull (THE HEIRESS) as daughter, Emma; and Claybourne Elder (BONNIE & CLYDE) as Emma's fiance Tommy (the role of family patriarch, Arthur, is TBD).

The Plowmen Present SOLDIER at HERE, Beginning 12/11 - 12/11/2012
The Plowmen will present the World Premiere of Soldier, written and performed by Jonathan Draxton, and directed by Kevin O'Rourke (Mayor Edward Bader on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire"). Soldier runs from December 11 - 22, 2012 in a limited engagement at HERE, located at 145 6th Avenue (Enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring) in New York City. Previews begin December 11 for a December 13 opening.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY Releases Motion Picture Soundtrack - 12/11/2012
WaterTower Music has announced the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at all retailers on December 11th. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. A Special Edition of the soundtrack featuring six exclusive bonus tracks, seven extended score cues, and deluxe liner notes will also be available December 11. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey features original score by Academy Award® winner Howard Shore recorded at famed Abbey Road studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally it includes an original song entitled "Song of the Lonely Mountain," written and performed by Neil Finn (Crowded House). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of a trilogy of films from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), will be released in the U.S. on December 14, 2012.

Robert Petkoff Joins the Cast of AMAZING GRACE the New Musical - 12/11/2012
Robert Petkoff is joining Broadway & film star Robby Benson and Tony nominee Josh Young in the upcoming special invitational presentation of selections from the original new musical AMAZING GRACE, with music & lyrics by Christopher Smithand book by Mr. Smith & Arthur Giron, December 11th and 12th at Lincoln Center's Clark Studio Theater. AMAZING GRACE has been in development over the past four years and the musical had a record-breaking run at Goodpeed's Norma Terris Theatre last summer. Under the direction of Gabriel Barre, the cast will also feature Whitney Bashor (The Fantasticks, Happy Days), Chris Hoch (Beauty and the Beast, Spamalot), Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime, Memphis), and Harriett D. Foy (Mamma Mia!, Once on This Island).

Red Bull Theater Presents Workshop of THE AENEID - 12/12/2012
The Red Bull Theater presents an "In the Raw" workshop of THE AENEID, by Oliver Kemeid, a powerful new play inspired by Virgil that transports Aeneas's search for a homeland into the modern world of middle-eastern revolution. THE AENEID will play at the St. Clements Theater for three performances on Feb. 11 and 12.

A Rare Revival of Berlioz's LES TROYENS Opens 12/13 at the Met - 12/13/2012
Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will lead a rare revival of Berlioz's Les Troyens beginning December 13. Francesca Zambello's production, critically acclaimed when it premiered at the Met in 2003, will star Marcello Giordani in his house role debut as Aeneas, the central character in the grand tragedy, which travels from the crumbling walls of Troy to the North African kingdom of Carthage. Deborah Voigt will reprise her performance of the Trojan prophetess Cassandra, a role she debuted in the premiere of Zambello's production, and Susan Graham will sing her first Met performances of Dido, the lovesick queen of Carthage. The cast also features Julie Boulianneas Aeneas's son, Ascanio; Karen Cargill as Dido's devoted sister, Anna; Paul Appleby as the young sailor Hylas; Eric Cutler as Dido's court poet, Iopas; Richard Bernstein as the Trojan priest Pantheus; DWayne Croft as Cassandra's fiance, Coroebus; and Kwangchul Youn as Narbal, Dido's trusted advisor. The Saturday, January 5 matinee performance of Les Troyens will be transmitted worldwide as part of the Met's Live in HD series, which is now seen in more than 1,900 movie theaters in 64 countries around the world.

Dicapo Opera Theatre and Opera Moderne Premiere MARRYING MOZART, 12/13-16 - 12/13/2012
Dicapo Opera Theatre and Opera Moderne will present the world premiere of Marrying Mozart with four performances beginning Thursday, December 13, 2012. Subsequent presentations take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 14, 15 & 16, 2012. Thursday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and the final performance on Sunday at 4 p.m.
