Phish front man Trey Anastasio rocked the legendary Birdland in NYC with an impromptu performance on Monday night. The iconic guitarist/composer/singer was in the house cheering co-writer Amanda Green, who was hosting an evening of her original theater and pop songs. Check out photos from the concert below! The duo is currently putting the finishing touches on their bound-for-Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody, based on the documentary. The two duetted on two songs from the musical; “I’m Gone,” and “Burn That Bridge,” aided by a bevy of Broadway singers including Jenn Colella, Andrea Burns, Brooks Ashmanskas, Ryann Redmond, Gregory Haney, Ariana DeBose and Jay Armstrong Johnson...as well as Anastasio’s famous guitar licks. One rabid super-fan screamed, “Broadway has never rocked this hard!” The Broadway at Birdland concert series takes place every Monday night at Birdland, 315 West 44 Street, NYC.
