In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) has re-scheduled Load OUT!, a semi-annual "riot" of repurposing and recycling activities, to Saturday, November 17, 2012. At Load OUT! FABnyc will gather gently used materials from arts organizations and other donors throughout the East Village/Lower East Side for a one-of-a-kind day of exchange, which takes place at 19 East 3rd Street from 11AM-3PM. FABnyc recognizes that natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy heighten the need for resource sharing and community building. At Load OUT!, artists and art students are invited to take home any of the costumes, props, and furniture they need for their next artistic endeavor. Neighbors affected by Sandy are also invited to attend the event and take away any furniture or other materials FREE of charge. The general public is asked to contribute a small entrance fee. Remaining materials will be repurposed or recycled responsibly by GrowNYC, Wearable Collections, The Lower East Side Ecology Center, and Film Biz. The small amount of remaining trash will be picked up by NYC Department of Sanitation. Load OUT!'s customary clothing, textile and e-waste community collections will be expanded to help meet Sandy-related needs - free and available to everyone, 11AM-3PM: |
