As a result of the suspension of public transportation by government authorities and additional safety precautions implemented due to severe weather on behalf of Hurricane Sandy, all Broadway performances on were cancelled for Sunday through Tuesday evening of this week. Bill Hanney’s award winning North Shore Music Theatre presents GUYS AND DOLLS opened October 30, and playing through Sunday, November 11. The cast is led by Jonathan Hammond (Nathan Detroit), Mylinda Hull (Miss Adelaide), Kelly McCormick (Sarah Brown), and Kevin Vortmann (Sky Masterson). The cast also includes Wayne Pretlow (Nicely Nicely), Ben Roseberry (Benny Southstreet), Jamie Ross (Arvide), and Jessica Sheridan (General Cartwright). Opening Night is Monday, November 12 at 6:45 pm for the Lincoln Center Theater production of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, a new play by Christopher Durang, directed by Nicholas Martin at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65th Street). VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE features Genevieve Angelson, Shalita Grant, Billy Magnussen, Kristine Nielsen, David Hyde Pierce and Sigourney Weaver. The new Broadway production of the Tony Award winning play The Heiress defied Hurricane Sandy and opened last night, November 1. The Heiress stars Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner David Strathairn, the leading man of “Downton Abbey” Dan Stevens, and Tony Award winner Judith Ivey. Written by Ruth & Augustus Goetz, The Heiress is directed by Tony Award nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman. Geoffrey Rush leads John Frost’s production of Sondheim's A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, which is currently running in Melbourne at Her Majesty’s Theatre for twelve weeks. The show is directed by Simon Phillips. Joining Rush (The Diary of a Madman, Exit the King, "Shine") is Michael Butel as Hysterium, Shane Bourne as Senex, Hugh Sheridan as Hero, Christie Whelan as Philia, Adam Murphy as Miles Gloriosus, Bob Hornery as Erronius, Magda Szubanski as Domina and Gerry Connolly as Marcus Lycus.
