Dawson's Creek alum James Van Der Beek can now be seen playing himself on the new ABC comedy series DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APARTMENT 23. On the half-hour comedy, Van Der Beek plays a "heightened version" of himself. Jokes the actor on his role, "It's twisted and it's dark. After a strict diet of killers and kidnappers, it was so much fun to get back on [Apartment 23] and just laugh."
On an upcoming episode, he will be cast on 'Dancing With the Stars' who must compete with his fellow '90's hearthtrob Dean Cain. Explains Van Der Beek, "I start freaking out because I can't dance against Superman! So it kicks off a whole training regimen. James, in real life, had to train quite a bit."
"Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" stars Krysten Ritter ("Breaking Bad," "Gilmore Girls") as Chloe, Dreama Walker ("The Good Wife," "Gossip Girl") as June, Liza Lapira ("Crazy, Stupid, Love") as Robin, Michael Blaiklock ("Secret Girlfriend") as Eli, Eric André (The Invention of Lying") as Mark and James Van Der Beek ("Varsity Blues," "Dawson's Creek") as James Van Der Beek.
Created and written by Nahnatchka Khan ("American Dad"), "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" is executive-produced by Khan, David Hemingson ("American Dad," "How I Met Your Mother") and Jeff Morton ("Modern Family").
