Yesterday, Playwrights Horizons' began rehearsals for the world premiere production of RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Gian Gionfriddo, directed by Peter DuBois. BroadwayWorld was there for the festivities and brings you full photo coverage below! Ms. Gionfriddo and Mr. DuBois are reuniting for the first time since their hit production Becky Shaw. Cast members include five-time Emmy Award nominee and "Private Practice" and "Judging Amy" star Amy Brenneman (Catherine), Beth Dixon (Alice), Virginia Kull (Avery), Kellie Overbey (Gwen) and Lee Tergesen (Don). After grad school, Catherine (Ms. Brenneman) and Gwen (Ms. Overbey) chose polar opposite paths. Catherine built a career as a rockstar academic, while Gwen built a home with her husband and children. Decades later, unfulfilled in polar opposite ways, each woman covets the other's life, commencing a dangerous game of musical chairs – the prize being Gwen's husband (Mr. Tergesen). Gina Gionfriddo's comedy is an unflinching look at gender politics in the wake of 20th century feminist ideals. Previews begin Friday, May 18 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater. Opening Night is set for Tuesday, June 12 with a limited engagement through Sunday, June 24. For more information, visit www.PlaywrightsHorizons.org. Photo Credit: Walter McBride / Retna Ltd.
