Who Would You Like in a WICKED Film?

  A.  Idina Menzel
  B.  Lea Michele
  C.  An Unknown
  D.  Another Star (Fill in the Comments)

Kristin Chenoweth! But, they'd probably have to make the movie soon, before she looks toooooooo old for the part. I have hardly seen anyone near as GREAT as she is at Galinda (despite the fact she originated it).

Lucy Durack as G(a)linda and Jemma Rix as Elphaba . They are from the Australian cast and are both amazing . I think they would be perfect for the movie and deserve to be in it !!!!! : )

I would love to see Stephanie J. Block or Kerry Ellis or Lisa Brescia as Elphaba and Erin Mackey as G(a)linda. Lisa Brescia conveyed so much emotion as Elphaba, and Erin Mackey was by far the funniest G(a)linda, in my opinion. :)

Beyonce. She'd sell tickets and give an amazing performance at the same time.

by ILOHTFAHA (Aida Man) @ 07/11/10, 09:17:49 PM

Anne Hathaway as Elphaba and Scarlett Johansson as Glinda

Stephanie J. Block. She wasn't given the opportunity to originate the role on Broadway.

Can it be both?
by flickfever @ 07/11/10, 09:57:17 PM

Why is the aging of Menzel and Chenoweth seen as a bad thing? They can be in it as well. After all, the Elphaba and Galinda characters age in the musical as well (between act one and act two.) Someone like Lea Michele or an unknown can play young Elphaba and Menzel could play adult Elphaba, etc.

several options
by HBP @ 07/11/10, 11:13:15 PM

I think Lady Gaga would be an inspired choice for Elphaba. She can definitely sing the role, and I think she could do wonders in the acting department... as long as she's not afraid to step out of her zone a little bit.

I'd also love to see a change between actors at 'intermission', where some actors (Lea Michele? Aaron Tviet? unknowns?) play the young characters and other actors (Idina, Matthew Morrison?) play their older selves for the second half. It would make a lot of sense if they adjusted the book to make the gap between Defying Gravity and Thank Goodness a long one. Then again, they'd have to adjust a lot of the book for this to make sense on screen.

Katharine McPhee or Stephanie J. Block

Good ideas
by BosBroad @ 07/12/10, 12:58:13 AM

I agree with both K Chenoweth and Lady Gaga, suggested above. That would be a tremendous cast.

...
by bwayguy22089 @ 07/12/10, 03:20:25 AM

The movie should be animated (like "Pixar" style animation) and should feature the voices of Idina and Kristin... because they are just too old now (especially for the screen)

Open Mind
by rtburt @ 07/12/10, 12:41:59 PM

I think the two who originated the roles should get the opportunity to play the roles in the movie, if they want. And God knows they know the roles better than anyone of the other fine actresses who have played them. Plus, with all the advances in technology they can make Kristin & Idina look as old & as young as they want. Hell, look what they did to Brad Pitt in "The Curious Life of Benjamin Burton", or all the stuff they did in "Avatar"! They can do amazing things with movies nowadays! Plus, if Ryan Murphy really does get picked as the director, he's already worked with both Kristin & Idina, so it could be cake. Not to mention FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!

so many choices!
by soupboy15 @ 07/12/10, 03:32:36 PM

I would love to see Stephanie J. Block and Katie Rose Clarke together. However I would definitely be okay with Idina and Kristin. And no matter what, I want it to be musical theatre people!

One choice
by Sean2 @ 07/13/10, 12:39:20 PM

Julia Murney, the best possible choice in the world.

a few options
by jdtp12 @ 07/16/10, 02:54:27 PM

i think it would be best to hav idina as elphie since she originated it, but if she is now too old, i think eden espinosa would be the best choice.

thoughts
by bfreak @ 05/06/11, 08:28:07 PM

I think in the role of Elphaba could be Lady GaGa and the role of Glinda even though she can't sing Greta Gerwig from the remake of Arthur

colin hanlon should be fiyero! hes perfect for the part =)

A few
by musicgal3 @ 05/16/11, 05:40:37 AM

I have a few choices for Elphaba: Idina Menzel, Amanda Harrison (she originated the role of Elphaba in Australia), Jemma Rix (current Elphaba in Australia) or Willemijn Verkaik (German Wicked - don't know how she'd go with English, but she is my Elphaba). As for Glinda, it's a choice between Kristin Chenoweth and Lucy Durack (Australia).
