Above the Elgin Theatre in Toronto on the 4th floor, magical things are happening. A company with 70 Tony Award nominations and 12 wins between them are gearing up to premiere a new musical, Sousatzka, based on the 1988 Shirley MacLaine film Madame Sousatzka. At the helm of the project, notorious theatre impresario Garth Drabinsky - who is making his comeback to 'artistic producing' following his convictions for fraud and forgery during his time as the head of Livent. Livent, of course, was once a division of Cineplex Odeon which produced the Sousatzka film before being bought out by Drabinsky and his then business partner Myron Gottlieb.

Keith Tomasek, a blogger from Ontario, Canada, was recently invited to an open rehearsal for Garth Drabinsky's Broadway-bound SOUSATZKA, where he captured some great backstage moments and previews from the event.

Just announced, Alistair Brammer will reprise his acclaimed West End performance as the young American GI 'Chris' in Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Boublil and Schönberg's legendary musical Miss Saigon, which begins performances Wednesday, March 1 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway).

Serenbe Playhouse, recipient of the prestigious American Theatre Wing grant (2015), presents the fourth show in its 2016 season, Miss Saigon, with music by Claude- Michel Schonberg; lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., and Alain Boublil; adapted from the original French lyrics by Alain Boublil. The show is directed by Brian Clowdus, music direction is by Chris Brent Davis, and choreography is by Bubba Carr. The show opened on July 21 and has already been extended to August 14. Today in 1991, Miss Saigon opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 4092 performances. Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr. It is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The musical premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London on 20 September 1989, closing after over four thousand performances, on 30 October 1999.The musical represented Schonberg and Boublil's second major success, following Les Miserables in 1985.

Porchlight Music Theatre welcomes the return of its multi award-winning hit AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', now through December 20. Baby is a musical with a book by Sybille Pearson, based on a story developed with Susan Yankowitz, music by David Shire, and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr.. It concerns the reactions of three couples each expecting a child. Lizzie and Danny are university juniors who have just moved in together. Athletic Pam and her husband, Nick, a sports instructor, have had some trouble conceiving. Arlene, already the mother of three grown daughters, is unsure of what to do, contemplating abortion while her husband Alan is thrilled with the thought of a new baby. Throughout the show, these characters experience the emotional stresses and triumphs, the desperate lows and the comic highs, that accompany the anticipation and arrival of a baby.

The 5th Avenue Theatre presents the sweeping new musical, Waterfall, featuring Laura Griffith (Broadway: Sweet Smell of Success, The Light in the Piazza), Thom Sesma (Broadway: The Times They are A-Changin', Man of La Mancha), J. Elaine Marcos (Broadway: Annie, Priscilla Queen of the Desert), and Thai pop superstar Bie Sukrit. This epic new Broadway-bound musical love story features a distinguished international creative team and a cast of 20. Who says West End performers have to stick to their own show?

It all started with Marc Oka (an Original Broadway Cast member) who decided to try and gather members of the casts of MISS SAIGON for a reunion. He went to URBO (a fantastic restaurant, bar and venue, in the heart of Times Square) and Manager, Benjamin Ickies, who is also a musician, and BOOM ... the night was born.

The World Premiere Musical WATERFALL is set in Bangkok and Tokyo between the turbulent years of 1933 and 1939, as a monarchy falls in Thailand and Japan is on the brink of war.  A young Thai student named Noppon (Thai superstar Bie Sukrit) falls in love with Katherine (Emily Padgett, 2014 Broadway Revival of Side Show), the American wife of a Thai diplomat, and the story of their forbidden love parallels history as the new democracy of Siam moves into the vortex of Japan prior to WWII. With a gloriously romantic score from Tony Award-winner Richard Maltby Jr. (Miss Saigon) and Academy Award-winner David Shire,WATERFALL is a modern love story of timeless scale.

MISS SAIGON's Kim, Eva Noblezada, recently posted a video to the West End show's official Instagram, showing 'A Day in the Life of MISS SAIGON.' In this video, she gives viewers a backstage look at some of the props, costumes, and more. Since it's entitled 'A Day in MISS SAIGON...
