The 25th Annual EASTER BONNET COMPETITION raised $3,706,085, the result of six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 52 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. Broadway Beat was there to capture all of the fun, excitement, joy and humor of this very special event!

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Jerry Mitchell have announced the return of BROADWAY BARES: SOLO STRIPS, a benefit striptease event featuring some of the hottest men on and off Broadway. BROADWAY BARES: SOLO STRIPS will be held Sunday, April 3 at Splash (50 West 17th Street). There will be performances at 8 PM and 10 PM. Tickets are available in advance or a $10 donation will be accepted at the door.

BROADWAY BEARS XIV, an annual grand auction of one-of-a-kind, museum quality, theatrically costumed and celebrity autographed teddy bears, was held Sunday, March 6, and raised a grand total of $103,905 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Lauren Molina has released her newest music video to the song 'Try to Say' off of her latest album 'Seat for Two.' According to Molina, the video concept was born out of the idea of an actor's nightmare, morphing int on 'Alice in Wonderland' like chacse through a mirror to find a run away heart. Molina teamed up with animator Noella Borie and the video was created using traditional paper cut animation.

BROADWAY BACKWARDS 6, the one-night-only event held Monday at the Longacre Theatre, raised a record-breaking $281,243 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (the Center) and Broadway Beat was, of course there as always to chronicle the night! Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation's leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised over $195 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.

The 22nd Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR Competition raised $3,776,720 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, thanks to the tireless work of 63 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies, it was announced Tuesday. Since 1989, the 22 editions of GYPSY OF THE YEAR have raised a total of $44,137,415 to benefit BC/EFA. Broadway Beat was there as always to capture the entire production for BC/EFA DVD and here are just a few highlights from the sold out, talent-filled event!

Bells Are Ringing will open the Encores! 2010-11 season on November 18, 2010. With music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the production will run through 21, 2010 at New York City Center. Bells Are Ringing is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, features music direction by Rob Berman and stars Kelli O'Hara and Will Chase.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Sunday's BROADWAY BARES XX: 'STRIP-OPOLY' made history by raising $1,015,985 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This marks the first time in BROADWAY BARES history that the $1 million dollar mark was reached, a goal that had been set this January by BARES creator and executive producer, Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. A new documentary, Broadway Bares Documentary : celebrating 20 years has released an online promo as they solicit funds for completion. The documentary is directed by Daniel Robinson and the Executive Producer is Jerry Mitchell.

BROADWAY BACKWARDS 5, an annual benefit concert presented by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, is a starry one night only event that will hit the stage at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Monday, February 22nd at 8pm.

On Monday, November 9th, at 8:00PM, Tony, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winner Bernadette Peters returns to Broadway for the first time in six years in a special one-night only concert at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre. Appearing with a 30-piece orchestra under the musical direction of Marvin Laird and directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, Broadway's beloved Bernadette will feature material from her Broadway career and recordings, including selections from Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jerry Herman and Stephen Sondheim.
