The West End revival of MISS SAIGON closed yesterday, February 27th, after a nearly two-year run. The show's creators, Cameron Mackintosh, Alain Boublil, and Claude-Michel Schonberg, took to the stage at the final curtain yesterday to speak about the production's success. Mackintosh told fans that the 25th Anniversary production of MISS SAIGON was filmed, and he said that because it was so successful, he believes that the musical will find itself in a big screen adaptation very soon!

The longest-running show in Broadway history, the Cameron Mackintosh/The Really Useful Group production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince, reached another unprecedented milestone when it celebrated its Twenty-Eighth Anniversary last night, Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Original cast member Will Swenson will return to the role of Javert in Cameron Mackintosh's Broadway production of LES MISERABLES for a limited time beginning this Wednesday,November 18, stepping in for Earl Carpenter as he recovers from a neck injury (cervical vertebrae impingement). Carpenter will undergo an MRI this week to determine a treatment plan and timetable for recovery.

The event, titled Oscar Unmasked, featured over 40 Academy Award-winning songs, and raised $10,000 for The Actors Fund and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Sondheim is the winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards, including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award. Described by Frank Rich of the New York Times as 'the greatest, and perhaps best-known artist working in musical theatre', his most famous scores include (as composer/lyricist) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, and Assassins. He also wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy. Lloyd Webber has composed 13 musicals, a song cycle, a set of variations, two film scores, and a Latin Requiem Mass. He has also gained a number of honours, including a knighthood in 1992, followed by a peerage from the British Government for services to Music, seven Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, fourteen Ivor Novello Awards, seven Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006. Several of his songs, notably 'The Music of the Night', 'I Don't Know How to Love Him', 'Don't Cry for Me, Argentina' and 'You Must Love Me', 'Any Dream Will Do' and 'Memory' have been widely recorded and were hits outside of their parent musicals.

Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Boublil & Schonberg's Les Miserables just welcomed several new cast members for its second year on Broadway last night, March 3 at The Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). Joining the cast are Tony and Oliver Award nominee Gavin Lee (Mary Poppins) as Thenardier, Erika Henningsen as Fantine, Rachel Izen as Madame Thenardier,Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius and Wallace Smith as Enjolras. Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo will perform as Jean Valjean through the end of the summer; Will Swenson, as Javert, and Samantha Hill, as Cosette, will continue in their roles as well.
